about

In 1998 Libythth acquired a Technics turntable, a sampler, a DrumKat and a 4 track cassette recorder. In the hands of almost any other producer of this era, these tools would have been used to create chill downtempo instrumental hip hop in which rare vinyl funk and jazz grooves blend soulfully with a hypnotic pastiche of delicately interwoven ostrich queefs.

In the garbled mitts of Libythth, these elements were fanatically patched into its already cacophonous engine of weirdness, the mighty Ensoniq TS12 keyboard. A distortion pedal was thrown in and whole thing was crashed into an endless row of shopping carts. Sample sources include Butthole Surfers, Marduk and Captain Beefheart, sped up and elegantly sandwiched with detuned synth bread and 300+bpm mustard.

Dizzolve a Diamond is disunderstood spasterpiece. It was first released in CD-R form and sent as a demo to a number of boutique electronica labels who each respectfully returned Libythth’s stamped self addressed postcards with their own unique rejection statements. Most of these labels no longer exist. In 2000, the demo found its way to Phthalo Records who were quick to recognize unconventional greatness and release it on CD for the amusement of several music magazine critics. These critics invariably describe the music as “headache inducing” and “not for everyone”. Most of these magazines no longer exist.

Here is the rambling text from the CD liner notes:

Somewhere in Brooklyn it was 1999. God sent helicopters to peep and spy Libythth with spotlight. A thick stream of highest math was issued and that sampler behaved accordingly. Libythth had been harshed with flaming light of God's helicopter but it was read as sweet help. Rubber drums were read as ancient and fanciful by sloppy ears. Libythth advised the ears to open a trillionflod ears-within-ears and soak MIDI into one infinite brain-lung-mouth. The saliva produced ought must be collected and drizzled upon fancy and expensive items. The plump and fruity nucleus is then exposed to be plucked from its grim branch and licked by a trillion new lasers.

about

Libythth Los Angeles, California

Libythth was bornt in 1993 from a grim and frothy pool of unpleasant synth patches.

The profound impact Libythth had on electronic music is purely theoretical and the full prunt of its influence on countless nonexistent artists cannot be measured by any stick.

We occupy an inaccessible hidden level and you probably shouldn’t be here.

We are unbeknownstmost.
