Libythth has always had a crundulous relationship with dance music. Its original mission back in the 1990s was to oppose the dominance of DJ culture in electronic music, with its rigid hierarchy of genres and sub-genres, drum breaks and samples, pants, shoes and hats. Libythth carved out its own squiggly cave system deep in the murky crevasse for its own amusement. But it’s lonely in there. Sometimes it’s good to leave the cave and go dance.

In 2018, Libythth was invited by Phthalo Records and Halo Cyan founder Dimitri Fergadis to do a DJ set at the Amsterdam Dance Event festival. The tracks on Vogels were created for and debuted at this event in the 6am hour and a massive grand time was had.

Two of these tracks, Prooky and Callapsnil, have uncredited guest vocals that were yoinked from a music sharing and collaboration site. I would like to credit them but I don’t remember where exactly I got them or what their names were. If the voices fit with the tracks, I used them. Vocals on Lovfingres (cover of the Silver Apples song) by Qrqyt Ixoteptek.
